'Pirates of the Caribbean' star Johnny Depp is eagerly looking forward to meeting legend of Indian Cinema Amitabh Bachchan. He will be landing on Indian soil very soon for the shooting Mira Nair’s Shantaram. He is very excited to visit Indian and expressed his desire to meet Mr. Bachchan. Depp is a great fan of Big B. Depp has seen some films of Amitabh and liked them very much. He feels that Amitabh is a very strong and important actor of Indian cinema. After making a mark in movies, Depp is working hard for his first musical "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street." It will be directed by director Tim Burton. The role of Sweeney is very challenging as for the first time he is playing a character which has some dark shades.
Shantaram is a novel of epic proportions written by Gregory David Roberts. It tells the story of his break from a Melbourne prison in Australia and escape to New Zealand followed by India where much of the novel is set. Actress Emily Watson is starring opposite Depp. The film is slated to release this year.
